PURUTHANA
Project Story
This website and more about Puruthana...
This effort is part of the impressive story of a sustainability project brought to life with the support of KUDAKA and the coordination of Bayburt University.
This project, implemented by Bayburt University with the support of the Northeast Anatolia Development Agency (KUDAKA/NADA), was designed as a comprehensive journey that not only preserves the tradition of purut production unique to Bayburt but also takes concrete steps to carry it into the future.
The first step of the project is to prepare Bayburt purut for geographical indication registration, along with its historical origins, production techniques, and cultural identity. With the academic expertise of the university and the technical support provided by KUDAKA, purut is no longer just a handicraft, but a legally protected local value. This step aims to safeguard the tradition against counterfeiting and loss.
In the second phase, Puruthana, where production has been carried out for centuries, is being transformed from a place of craftsmanship into an institutional brand identity. With the design, registration, and institutionalization of the Puruthana brand, this production culture, based on the tradition of craftsmanship, is being repositioned with a contemporary narrative language.
The third and most visible phase of the project is digital transformation and marketing communication. Through the www.puruthana.com website and social media channels, production processes, mastery stories, and products will be narrated with regular content, and Puruthana will expand from the local to the national and international arena. With video, visual, and text-based content, the story of Purut will circulate sustainably in the digital world.
This process also carries the goal of employment and capacity development. Young people and women will be included in the project in the areas of communication and digital marketing, gaining professional skills and becoming part of local development. In the later stages of the project, it is intended that this accumulation will be transformed into permanent structures, in line with the vision of the Puruthana Association and Ahi School.
Supported by KUDAKA and spearheaded by Bayburt University, this project promises to:
- protect a product by registering it,
- transform a place into a brand,
- bring a tradition into the digital world,
- and connect a city's cultural heritage to a sustainable future.
